| Kaylyn was writing in her journal waiting for lights out: Journal~ Another good day, that makes 5 days now... I think, without an episode. I want to go home and pretend I was never in this living hell. I wish dad would wake up and tell them the truth; I had absolutely nothing to do with what happened to him. I miss mom, I want to meet my little brother, I wish they were allowed to visit...
Before Kaylyn could finish her entry she saw flashes of her father pleading for his life and her mother crying. These were images that didn't fit into her life and before she could stop it she was no longer herself.
The first thing Samuel did when he woke was look down, he noticed he was wearing nothing more than a tank top and women's panties. He quickly went to the dresser and found a sweatshirt and sweatpants; as he threw them on he heard footsteps stop in the hall right outside his room. | |

| Margaret was tired of sitting in her room and decided to explore the hospital. She threw on a pair of short jean shorts and her sandals and headed out to see what the hospital had to offer. She slowly walked through Pavilion A wondering if she would run into anyone. She watched as the room numbers decreased. She sighed as she got nearer to the first rooms. She noticed an open door and stopped in front of it. For a moment, Margaret hesitated as she debated on checking the room out. Curiosity got the better of her and she stuck her head in. First thing, she noticed was how familiar the person in front of her seemed. Suddenly she realized were she knew the girl from. “Kaylyn what the hell are you doing here?” She blurted out before stopping herself. | |

| Samuel turned towards the open door to his room as a woman said something. He noticed that she was looking at him, “I’m sorry,” he said, “I’m not sure who Kaylyn is, you must have me confused with someone else.” Thinking he had that handled he turned back to the desk where he had been to look for any clues as to what had happened to him. He found a journal and began reading, ignoring the woman at his door: Journal~ They say I hurt dad and until he wakes up and tells everyone what happened I have to stay here. I don’t have any idea what they’re talking about the only thing I remember about his death is mom crying, unable to explain to me what happened and his blood all over me. The journal had much of the same as he kept reading.

| Margaret scoffed as Kaylyn denied being herself. She watched the girl walk away from her and shook her head as she followed after. She watched as Kaylyn read her journal. After a few moments she sat on the desk, making sure she was in Kae’s view. She started to read over Kae’s shoulder, realizing the trauma that she had went through. Margaret realized she was being rude and decided to introduce herself. “I’m Margaret Samuelson, and who might you be?” She held her hand out and waited for a reply. | |

| Samuel looked up when the woman introduced herself, he considered ignoring her. He had more important things to do then make friends, but he realized being rude would get him nowhere so he returned the gesture. “I’m Samuel,” he said taking the woman’s hand. “Would you happen to know exactly where we are?” He needed to get the girl home, he didn’t know where the girl was or where home was exactly for that matter but it wasn’t here, wherever here is. | |

| Margaret smiled once she knew whom she was talking to. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Samuel,” she said as she gave his hand a lite squeeze. “Of course I know where we are silly.” She smiled sweetly as she debated how to proceed. “We are in your room. Just you and I here. All alone.” She had this odd feeling that Samuel didn’t want to be in this room, or place. The question now was how to stop him from trying to leave. If only I could remember the trigger. “So Samuel, where are you trying to go?” For now distracting him was the best thing she could do. | |

| Samuel rolled his eyes at the woman’s tone. He was well aware that they were in a room and it was only the two of them. When she asked where he was trying to go he just got annoyed, he hadn’t said anything about leaving, “I’m aware that we’re in a room, but what is the building we’re in?” He didn’t care about his tone, he only cared about the girl and getting her home so he continued looking for things on the desk. He found letters signed ‘Mom’ but no envelope to go with them, he found no phone number or any information that might lead him to ‘home’. Nothing except for the woman in front of him. | |

| She felt herself let out a chuckle as Samuel’s tone when he answered her. “Did I annoy you?” She laughed as he continued his search. “You know you shouldn’t brush me off so easily. I take it you are trying to help the girl whose writing you were reading.” She smirked slightly, knowing the answer already. Margaret hoped you could continue to distract Samuel from leaving until she could remember what Kaylyn’s trigger was. She let out a small sigh. The things I have to do for Kaylyn sometimes.
She thought back to when the two girls were growing up together. They would always hang out whenever they could. They told each other all of their secrets, their hopes, their dreams. She could remember Kaylyn having episodes but none involving this Samuel guy. She sighed again as she came back to the reality at hand. She could remember a lot that they did together but nothing that helped her remember Kae’s trigger.

| “I…” Samuel couldn’t bring himself to apologize for his tone, he was annoyed and nothing was going to be changing that. “I don’t know,” he answered he really didn’t know for sure if he was reading the words of the girl he was trying to help, he just assumed that he was.”I just assumed that this was her room, her things. I always seem to be where she needs me. Could you please answer my question? And quit the damn tone, I’m not a child, nor am I interested in anything other than taking care of the girl.” He shouldn’t have sworn but he wasn’t always in control of his mouth when he began losing his temper. | |

| Margaret tried to stifle her laughter at Samuel. “Here’s some advice; if you really want to get an answer from somebody you might try being nice to them and not demanding an answer because that is bound to get you nowhere.” She smiled sweetly at Samuel. So he came out when Kaylyn needed him, and he wanted to take care of her. “Kaylyn is alright I promise nothing is going to happen to her here. She is safe here. People are watching over her and protecting her every day in this place.” She said, hoping to calm him down. Even though what she said was true she knew how much the patients really hated this place, herself included. | |

| Samuel continued to grow annoyed as Margaret continued to not answer him. “I’m aware,” he stated, losing his temper wouldn’t help anything. “Please,” he asked through clenched teeth, “I need to know where we are. You scratch my back, I scratch yours?” It was the only thing he could offer, she obviously wanted to know more about what was happening. “Who?” He asked when Margaret started talking about a ‘Kaylyn’. It was a girl’s name, but he didn’t know if it was her name. Margaret said that ‘Kaylyn’ was safe here, if this was the girl’s name whether she was safe here or not didn’t matter, she didn’t feel safe nor did she want to stay here. These were the only things that really mattered to him. | |

| Margaret had to stop herself from laughing. She was really getting Samuel ticked off. “Where we are does not matter honestly because trying to leave will only get the girl you are trying to protect in more trouble.” If Samuel tried to escape Kaylyn could get isolation as punishment and that would just make matters worse. “I’m pretty sure they girl that you are watching out for is my friend Kaylyn. From what I have read it sounds like her and the writing looks like hers.” She tried to explain what she knew to Samuel. She really hoped that he wouldn’t try anything stupid before Kaylyn took back over. | |

| Samuel was surprised to hear that it could cause trouble if he tried to leave, he had read something about being in an insane asylum but without confirmation he couldn’t be sure. “If I promise not to leave will you please tell me where we are?” He didn’t know if he’d keep that promise if he made it, but he really wanted to know for sure where he was. “You know her?” he asked, when Margaret talked to him about who she thought the girl was. He wasn’t sure how much to believe but he needed to get a hold on his temper, the last time he’d lost it he’d murdered a man, a repeat in a public place was ill-advised and he knew it. | |

| Margaret could tell she had surprised him. “How do I know you will keep your promise? Most people would just say that to get the answer and then leave anyways.” She brushed a stray strand of bangs out of her face and then crossed her arms in front of her. “Yeah, Kaylyn and I were friends while growing up. We were almost like sisters.” She smiled as she remembered all the time she and Kae had spent together when they were younger. She thought about little Mary again and how she would show up sometimes, but for the life of her she still couldn’t think about how she would get Kae back. She sighed. “Kae was my best friend. I could tell her anything.” She could feel depression starting to kick in but she ignored it. | |

| Samuel sighed. “If you can give me reason enough not to leave, I’ll keep my word. If my leaving will get her in trouble, then I won’t.” It was true, if any action of his affected her in any way he would never be able to forgive himself. Samuel saw the care in Margaret’s eyes, Kaylyn had met a lot to her, but it didn’t sound like they were close anymore. “You two had a falling out?” It was the only conclusion he could come to with the information he’d been given, so if he was right or wrong with it didn’t matter. | |

| Margaret sighed. “Trust me, trying to leave her will get anybody in trouble. She would be stuck in a room by herself, just her and her thoughts.” While having time to think wasn’t a bad thing; be in isolation and having time to dwell would be. Margaret felt herself give a meek smile and tear began to form in her eyes. She rubbed her eyes quickly, hoping to stop herself from crying. Stupid depressing nature, why take over now? “She moved away. We were never able to get in touch again.” She felt a single tear escape from her eyes and felt frustrated with her lack of emotional control. “I would do anything to see her again though.” She smiled as another tear rolled down her cheeks. She rubbed her entire face, praying Samuel didn’t see the two stray tears. | |

| Samuel nodded, he understood what Margaret meant and isolation does no good when it’s your thoughts that can be the problem in the first place. He noticed Margaret rubbing her eyes as she talked about Kaylyn, he’d noticed earlier that she meant a lot to her, but it only became more apparent as she continued talking. He didn’t understand why but he found himself feeling for the woman in front of him, she was quite obviously hurting and it wasn’t unlikely he’d be able to help. He saw her rub her eyes and before he could stop himself he asked, “Is there anything I can do?” | |
