The room was stifling and she eagerly pulled the door to her room open and skipped to the common area. Her fingers traced the shapes and bumps along the wall as she went, humming a happy tune. For some reason leaving her room had lifted her spirits and she felt much more alive. It was almost like escaping into the outside, sucking in the cool air greedily and letting the sun shine on her face. It wasn't the case the, the sent of medicine practically filled the air, but it was a smell that she had become quite accustomed to.
As she reached the room she was happen to find it empty and she plopped herself on the couch, her legs taking up all the room if someone tried to swoop in. She pulled the small pillow and hugged it to her chest as she stared up at the white ceiling. It was so blindingly white that she couldn't look at it for more then a few seconds without shifting to her side to look away. White walls and ceilings were her least favorite, they made her uneasy and anxious.
