PostSubject: Lazing About (PG-13)   Fri Aug 03, 2012 6:57 pm

Carmen let the cool water brush over her legs before laying down on the cool marble. She was alone, which was surprising for the time of day. It was midday and yet no one was about trying to use the swimming pool. Even though it was a therapy pool it was used by many people just to experience the pleasure of swimming. It was the reason she was there, but the water was too cold for her skin just yet. Even though she was surprised by the emptiness she appreciated it, it was when things were quiet that she had time to think and listen to her own thoughts. Lately she had been feeling more disconnected from people, but there was not much she could do about that. The psych doctors knew what made her feel connected to another being, but she knew that they would never allow her to. The way she connected with someone and felt like she belonged was when she could feel the cold steel pressed against skin. It was apparently the reason she was there because she was unusual. Carmen didn't know how she could be considered unusual when there were so many others who had bigger problems than she did. Since Carmen didn't usual play with people who didn't like her games. Usually. Sometimes the urge was too strong and she could feel a particular tingling in her spine down to her fingertips. She shivered just thinking about it, biting her lip to bring her back to reality. It would just be another disappointing emptiness if she couldn't follow through with her wants and needs.

Carmen sighed softly, kicking her foot out to let the water splash up. The tiny drops hit random parts of her body. It was her way of slowly acclimating her body to the change of temperature. Normally she liked the cold, but today it was making her uncomfortable. She could feel bile rising up her throat whenever she tried to go in any deeper than her waist.

It was unusual, but Carmen refused to allow that to win. She had a complex with winning even if the opponent wasn't a person. Most people would call her weird, her parents used to all the time, but it was just who she was. To prove that point she shimmied down and slid the rest of her legs into the water. It was up to her hips and her back arched to remain slightly against the floor. Until a noise surprised her and she jerked her head to the right to see if anyone was there. Her eyes surveyed the area, but no one was around and everything was still.

It was a nice spring day that one, and for some odd reason she was done really early with all she had to do, so she decided to enjoy the rest of the day out. Walking towards the gardens she took a seat under a magnificent tree and stayed there enjoying the sun and the cool breeze. It was really amazing and she wished more days were like that one, but she was sure that wouldn't happen, for sure. Anyway, after around half an hour she got extremly bored being there alone, and she had the urge of doing some excersice to work out her already perfect body.

Slowly she walked back to her pavilion, finally entering her room and she opened her wardrobe and sat on her bed, watching it as if something would fall soon to the floor so she should pick it up. She hated that she had to wear that stupid uniform, but at least they allowed them to wear their own clothes when they were done with their therapies and all that stuff. Lost in thought suddenly she saw it and a smirk appeared on her lips. Her swimsuit, the one she had used when she was training to be a professional swimmer. Quickly she stripped her clothes and threw it on, watching herself on the mirror. She looked good in it actually, and she was pretty aware that in that hospital there was a swimming pool.

Without a second thought, Gemma put on some black shorts and a baggy t-shirt, slipped her feet into her flip-flops and wandered out the room and the pavilion, again towards the gardens and later to the swimming pool. Making a fool of herself and also remembering her soccer liking she kicked a small rock that was on her way, with such the bad luck that it crashed against the pool's entrance door making a horrible noise. With a chuckle she opened the door once she reached it and the next second she saw a blond lonf hair in the water. "Hey" she greeted with a nod of her head and moved to take her clothes off in a nearby bench.

As nothing else seemed to happen Carmen relaxed, tugging off her tank top as she slid fully into the water. The feeling in her throat got worse, but she pushed through the feeling and sunk under water. She was completely submerged and shivered, immediately resurfacing and brushing her long hair out of her face. Someone called out to her and she turned around in surprise. "Hi.." Carmen tilted her head as she ran her fingers through her wet hair. She really didn't know what else to say so she slipped back under the water so she wouldn't be expected to say anything to the girl.

When she was fully submerged her mind wandered to the girl who had just entered the swimming area. She hadn't seen her before, but that was normal. Carmen tended to be too distracted to notice anyone around her unless they directly affected her in some way. She knew she could be quite self involved, but she had never seen a problem with that. In her mind she would be out soon and then all of these people would be a thing of the past. Even if she made friends with them they would most likely never see each other again. It was why Carmen didn't try very hard to make connections, it would suck to lose them. An even though she had technically lost her parents, it was different that way some how. In that moment Carmen had never felt closer to them and they would always be apart of her now. It was her way of preserving them in her mind along with a few other things.

Carmen resurfaced when she was in need of air and licked her chlorine covered lips. Now that she was up again she felt obligated to say something to the girl, to make conversation. It wasn't in her nature to do so, but she couldn't exactly act as if the girl was not there. Carmen may be self involved, but she never tended to be rude. That had been drilled into her mind since she was a child along with many ways that one could show their distaste for someone without ever appearing rude. "I'm Carmen, and yourself?" she swam closer to the side that she was at. She knew she sounded awkward, but she never claimed to be a very socialable person. In fact it was something she failed at pretty badly. Socializing wasn't something she was used to so she could come off sounding quite awkward in situation where she felt uncomfortable.

After the blonde's response, Gemma just ignored waht was happening by her surroundings. She had the ability of getting lost in her own mind without noticing what was happening around the rest of the places she was in. That what was she tended to do in her group therapies, after all noone was paying her much attention either, since she didn't have any problem like some people in there who in were, in her opinion, pretty dangerous.

Stripping her clothes till her swimsuit she placed her towel perfectly over her belongings, that weren't that many after all: her clothes, cigarrettes and her room's key. Then she moved to the nearby showers. She had never understood why in every swimming pool always they obbeyed you to take a shower before. It was understandable for her. It was for the dirt it was going to be impossible to brush away the dirt with that little water. Then she though it was maybe for the temperature change....but the shower was cold too anyway...

Brushing those thoughts away she let the water of the shower fall over her body, from her head to her toes, purring softly at the feeling of it and feeling the goosebumps in the most sensitive parts of her body due to the cold. After showering she moved to take a seat at the pool's edge, letting her feet into it, smiling. It reminded her of the times she had been swimming.

That was the very moment she realized her companion was talking to her again, so she turned her head. As it was an introduction she held her hand out at her with a soft smile "Gemma, nice to meet you" she said. She wasn't once to befriend people so quickly, but if the person was worth a chat she'd never refuse. She didn't know if this Carmen person would, but maybe she'd give it a try.
